Flying Singapore Airlines Suites Class, Part 2: Onboard the A380 from Singapore to New York
This is Part 2 of my Suites Class trip. If you haven’t read Part 1 — the Jakarta–Singapore leg and the hidden Private Room lounge at Changi — start there:

Onboard the A380 Suites
The boarding process is its own thing — Suites passengers go through a dedicated door. Every flight attendant seemed to already know my name. They called me Mr. Cherub the entire flight. One of them even let me grab a photo.

The seat itself is wide enough for two people side by side. Before takeoff I tried the Krug Grande Cuvée — I actually preferred it to the Dom.

Bose QuietComfort 15s for the flight.

A few months earlier I’d pre-ordered my meals through Singapore’s “Book the Cook” service. Here’s what showed up:
Foie Gras Appetizer

US Grilled Prime Beef Fillet

Honestly, not that impressive — if you’re coming from the US, skip it and order something else.
Crepes and Fruit

Amenity Kit

Entertainment
23-inch TV, great selection of Asian and Hollywood titles.

Turning the Suite Into a Bedroom
When I was ready to sleep, the flight attendant turned my sofa into an actual double bed. Proper mattress. Not a lie-flat seat.

I got nearly eight hours of real sleep.
Kaiseki Breakfast
Breakfast was Japanese kaiseki — the multi-course traditional meal you’d normally only find at a proper ryokan in Kyoto.

Transit in Frankfurt
We landed in Frankfurt for a transit stop and I was sent to the Executive Lounge. Nice shower facilities, free phone-charging stations, the works.

I nearly missed my onward flight — cutting it way closer than I should have — but I made it back just in time.
Frankfurt → New York
Back in the Suite, it was time to keep eating.

Citrus Royale — orange and pineapple juice with 7-Up.

Boston Lobster Thermidor
My favorite meal of the entire trip. Fresh, buttery, perfectly cooked.

7 oz Beef Fillet, Café de Paris Butter
Last main before landing.

The Singapore Sling
You can’t fly Singapore Airlines without ordering one. Every time I did, the flight attendants gave me a little grin — it’s clearly one of their favorites.

Landing at JFK

And that was it. A bitterly cold New York winter was waiting — below zero — but the trip itself was everything I’d hoped for. If you have the miles and the patience to hunt for award availability, this is one of the few aviation experiences I’d put above anything else I’ve flown.
Worth every mile.
